FAQs

Q: What should I wear?

Wear loose comfortable clothings such as work out pants and a t-shirt. There is no required school uniform however, school t-shirts are available. Each of the facilities has a different climate and layering for places that get warm during class is a good idea.

Q: What should I bring?

Water, a notebook if you want to take notes, Level 2 students should bring a yoga mat for floor exercises.

Q: What about shoes?

Shoes are a personal preference. You can attend without wearing shoes however, we meet in public areas with a lot of useage. The facilities are always kept clean but you should evaluate going barefoot in public areas. My personal preference is sneakers such as Kwon's or indoor soccer sneakers.

Q: When should I arrive?

The facilities are only open 30 minutes before each class. You should arrive 10-15 minutes before your class to give yourself time to settle in, stretch and greet your classmates.

Q: Which classes can I attend?

You can attend any of the wellness classes. Contact the Recreation Commission that offers the class most convenient to you. Seniors classes may only be attended by individuals who are at least 60 and reside in the county where the center is located.

Q: What ages do you teach?

The slow moving nature of tai chi and the dicussion segments of class usually do not appeal to people younger than 16 years old. Exceptions have been made for individuals whose mindset is geared toward tai chi at a young age. We have students as young as 11 in our classes. There is no maximum age for tai chi.
